After a string of high-profile appointments, Gallagher Bassett (GB) has been tapped by icare to support its three-year transformation strategy, aimed at delivering the best outcomes for NSW government agencies, workers, and assets of the state.

GB has been appointed as icare's new claims management service provider, responsible for managing all self-insurance general-lines portfolios, including liability, motor, and property.

The new general-lines claims partner will start managing all new claims from March 2018, with all existing claims transitioned by mid-2018.

After the handover gets completed by mid-2018, government agencies can expect a simpler process to manage claims through a centralised, digital system; greater capability to support complex claims; and increased visibility of insurance coverage with bespoke solutions for each agency.

“GB’s appointment forms part of icare’s three-year transformation strategy to build a world-class insurance offering with a customer-centred approach to delivering value to the agencies, workers, and assets of NSW,” said Tim Plant, group executive for self-insurance.

John McNamara, GB's managing director for Australia, said GB and icare share a “strong dedication to customer service, a desire to use innovative technology to provide solutions to customers, and forming partnerships to deliver effective change.”

The new partnership follows GB's appointment as claims manager for icare's NSW Home Building Compensation Fund, and being chosen as claims provider for the Northern Territory public service workers’ compensation scheme.

GB was recently awarded as the 2017 Service Provider to the Insurance Industry of the Year by ANZIIF.
